LOCAL PRODUCE
Within the catchment of Berwick-upon-Tweed (Berwick Borough and Berwickshire) we have identified over 50 producers of local food. We have now published a directory of these producers on this site.
We have contacted all the producers on our database by e-mail or letter to confirm their details before publication. If you have been contacted and not yet replied can you do so. If you would like to be included and have not been contacted please get in touch with Tony Houghton on 01289 332247 or at tweedmouth_tony@yahoo.co.uk.
We are also planning directories of retailers of local produce and restaurants and cafes which use local produce. If you would like to be included in either of these directories please let Tony know.
Some of these producers are well known to us, indeed we have visited a number now as part of our programme of events. Some are completely unknown but are included in our directory in good faith because we believe they produce food locally. If you find differently let us know.
The directory is arranged by class of produce. Click on a class below to get a list of the producers in that group. As far as we are aware each producer is happy to be contacted by telephone or email to let you know how to buy their produce. Some sell directly from the farm gate, others deliver or do mail order and
some sell through retailers. Where there is a web site you will find lots more information. Producers marked F sell through the Berwick Farmers Market which is held in the Maltings on the last Sunday of each month.
